IKEA furniture make-over

English: I appreciate good sound, and I’m very fond of watching movies. But when the TV and speakers are not in use, I feel no urge to see them.
I knew that Paolo was the man in my life, when he bought a surround sound system with tiny speakers just as he had moved to Copenhagen. And when he, just after we got married, agreed with me that a TV cabinet was a good idea, I was absolutely sure about it.
We bought a TV furniture with doors. When the TV was not in use, it could neatly be stored away. I like it aestheticly but it is also convenient because children could not so easily get to the TV and it also helps a little with limiting TV-watching because of the doors.
The cabinet was designed for the old box televisions, and when we acquired a flat screen TV (because the resolution of the old was not good enough for Paolos PS3), the furniture seemed completely oversized in depth. The furniture was dark brown, and when we also got an old dark brown piano in the living room, it was too much with two massive dark brown “furniture”.
We agreed to dispose of the TV furniture and look for another solution. But then decided that we might as well try to remodel the furniture. We had nothing to lose and it was only the color and depth there was something wrong with.
So Paolo and one of his friends simply sawed off the whole back side and 20 cm of the depth, moved further in the hind legs, adjusted the drawers and I painted it white.
The depth now corresponds to the Play Station and DVD player. It has become a much lighter Furniture to look at and I am extremely happy with the result.
